The United Arab Emirates registered a temperature record for the month of May - 51.6 degrees Celsius, reported Agence France-Presse, citing the National Meteorological Center, BTA reported.

"The highest temperature recorded in the country today is 51.6 degrees Celsius in the city of Suwayhan, about 70 kilometers north of the large city of Al Ain in Abu Dhabi. The record was recorded at 1:45 p.m. local time“, the Center said in “Ex“. This broke the record set yesterday in Abu Dhabi, which was 50.4 degrees Celsius.

The desert country experienced unseasonably hot weather in April, with the average maximum temperature reaching a record high for the month of 42.6 degrees Celsius. This prompted authorities to issue warnings to the population, urging them to drink plenty of water and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.

On April 27, temperatures reached a peak of 46.6 degrees Celsius, almost beating the monthly record of 46.9 degrees Celsius, recorded in April 2012.
