Nine of ten children of a Palestinian doctor have been killed in Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip, the Associated Press reported, citing the enclave's health ministry, BTA reported.
In the past 24 hours, the bodies of a total of 79 victims of the strikes have been brought to hospitals. Among the victims were the nine children of Alya Najjar, a pediatrician at the “Nasr“ hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, local health officials said. The doctor had a total of 10 children.
He was on shift at the hospital when he learned that his home was on fire after a strike. He went there immediately. The doctor's wife was seriously injured. The pediatrician's 11-year-old son was the only survivor, his colleagues said. The children who died ranged in age from 7 months to 12 years. They were trapped under the rubble of the doctor's house, said Khalil al-Dokran, a spokesman for the Gaza Strip's health ministry.
The Israeli military said in a statement that it had struck 100 targets in Gaza over the past 24 hours.
