The United States' "Golden Dome" project undermines the foundations of strategic stability, as it involves the creation of a global missile defense system, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, quoted by "Reuters".

The project is included in the new Republican budget package being discussed in Congress, with $25 billion earmarked for the initial phase to start construction. The total cost of the project is estimated at $175 billion, with the possibility of a significant increase. So far, Congress has not allocated funds for its implementation.

The United States claims that the system will have global coverage and will be aimed at neutralizing potential threats from countries such as China and Russia. This has caused a sharp international reaction.

North Korea has described the project as a threat to the security of nuclear states and warned that it is turning space into a potential field for nuclear war. According to the Institute for American Affairs at the North Korean Foreign Ministry, "Golden Dome" is not a defensive tool, but part of the US offensive arsenal for preemptive strikes against sovereign states.

Canada has also shown interest in the system. Prime Minister Mark Carney told the BBC that the country is holding high-level talks with the US about its possible inclusion in the project.
