German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's decision to finance the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons systems is nothing but a provocation that prolongs the war, the Kremlin said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
"This is a very dangerous trend, an irresponsible position that Germany is taking", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Merz confirmed today that when supplying weapons to Kiev there will no longer be restrictions on the range of strikes against Russian territory.
"This is nothing but a further provocation of war. It is nothing but a prolongation of attempts to force the Ukrainians to continue fighting. And it is nothing more than an obstacle to attempts to embark on the path of a peace process," Peskov said.
He also accused Berlin of competing with Paris for the role of the most dangerous warmonger.
Germany will finance the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons systems, with no restrictions on the scope of their use, Ukrinform reported, citing German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berlin.
Germany will provide additional military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about 5 billion euros, the German Defense Ministry announced today during meetings between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and senior officials in Berlin, Reuters reported.
In its statement, the ministry cited Russian air strikes, "which killed and injured many civilians, as well as the massive destruction of civilian infrastructure". The aid will be financed with funds that have already been approved by the lower house of the German parliament, the ministry added.
