The Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea has appointed six new corps-level commanders of the Korean People's Army and heads of the artillery and security departments, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

Another expanded meeting of the commission was held at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on May 28. Leading commanders of the Ministry of Defense, military and political commanders of major units of the Korean People's Army at all levels, and leading cadres of relevant departments of the Party Central Committee also attended the event as observers.

The meeting discussed strengthening the role of political bodies in law enforcement agencies and establishing "iron discipline" in the army.

On May 21, during the launching ceremony of the new destroyer in the presence of the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un, an incident occurred. As a result of the premature activation of the launch mechanism, the bow of the vessel remained on the slipway (shipbuilding structure), and the stern ended up in the water. Kim Jong-un called the cause of the incident the "criminal irresponsibility" of the leadership of the organizations that supervised the construction and design of the ship, and ordered the ship to be restored before the June party plenum.
