The leader of the "Alternative for Germany": Orban is a guiding light of freedom, the wind of change is blowing

She said that attempts to ban her party through the German courts will not be successful

The co-chair of the German far-right party "Alternative for Germany" (AfG) Alice Weidel said today at a conference in the Hungarian capital Budapest that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is a “guiding light of freedom“, DPA reported, BTA reported.

“The wind of change is blowing“, Weidel addressed the attendees in English.

“They are spying on the opposition in order to condemn the AfG as an enemy of the constitution and to fabricate a pretext to ban our party“, she added, referring to the decision of the German domestic intelligence service to categorize her party, which won second place in the February elections, as an extremist organization.

To thunderous applause from those present, Weidel said that attempts to ban the AfG through German courts would not be successful.

German intelligence announced that it would not categorizes AfD as a “proven right-wing extremist“ organization until a court in Cologne rules on the party's lawsuit against the decision.

The traditional annual forum in Budapest is linked to the US Conservative Political Action Conference, DPA reports. Orbán uses the event to promote ties between right-wing organizations around the world.

The leitmotif is the positive attitude towards Russia, led by President Vladimir Putin. This year, the Hungarian forum within the framework of the conservative conference is attended by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the leader of the Austrian Freedom Party Herbert Kickl. US President Donald Trump sent a congratulatory address via video conference.
