The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the massive night strike with missiles and drones against Ukraine, carried out on the night of June 5-6, was "a response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime", reports the BBC.

In an official statement, the department emphasized that the attack was carried out with "high-precision long-range weapons based on air, sea and land, as well as strike drones".

According to the Russian side, the strikes were directed against "military facilities" on the territory of Ukraine, including "workshops for assembling strike drones and warehouses for weapons and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine".

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that three people were killed and 49 were injured in the attack. According to him, Russia has struck "almost all of Ukraine", including Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava and several other regions.

The spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuri Ignat, specified that the attack included 407 attack drones and 44 missiles, of which the Ukrainian air defense managed to destroy nearly half.

We recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin had confirmed to his American counterpart Donald Trump that Moscow would respond to Ukrainian attacks on strategic military airfields, but the decision on the timing and nature of the response would be made by the Russian military. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to journalists on Thursday.

The conversation between the two leaders took place on Wednesday and lasted a little over an hour. According to Trump, it was a "good conversation", although "not the kind that leads to immediate peace".
