32 victims of Air India plane crash identified

14 bodies handed over to families

The identities of 32 victims of the passenger plane crash in western India have been established using DNA tests, local administration representative Rajnish Patel told PTI.

“Currently, 32 DNA samples have matched and 14 bodies have already been handed over to their families“, he said.

The exact number of those killed in the crash has not yet been announced. According to the latest data, they are 279 people. Authorities are conducting DNA tests to identify the dead.

It is known that 241 of the 242 passengers and crew on board died in the crash. One passenger miraculously survived. At least 29 others on the ground died when the plane crashed into a medical college.
