At least nine people have died and two are missing as a result of floods caused by tropical storm "Vutip" in central Vietnam, the news portal VnExpress reported.

According to its information, more than 3,500 houses, about 88,000 hectares of rice fields and other crops have been flooded in the central region.

Storm "Vutip", which was the first of this year in the South China Sea, brought unusual rains for the beginning of summer, causing severe flooding. They seriously disrupted transport links in the central part of the country and caused significant economic damage to the region's economy.

Earlier, Vietnam's Department of Dam Management, Disaster Prevention and Control reported that more than 2,400 residents had been evacuated from the affected areas.
