The UK and its G7 allies will announce further sanctions against Russia. This was stated by the British government, quoted by "Reuters".
The move is aimed at increasing pressure on Moscow over the war in Ukraine.
"We are finalizing a further package of sanctions - and I want to work with all our G7 partners to reduce Russia's energy revenues and reduce the funds they can invest in their illegal war," British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will say later today.
The UK has already sanctioned more than 2,300 individuals, organisations and ships as part of punitive measures against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
"We must seize this moment to increase economic pressure and show President Vladimir Putin that it is in his - and Russia's - interest to demonstrate that he is serious about peace," he will also say Starmer.
