Iran's ambassador to France said today that his country is not at war with the US, despite American attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, DPA reported, BTA reported.

"No, Iran is not at war with the US", Mohammad Amin Nejad said in an interview with the French branch of the French television station RTÉ.

At the same time, he accused the US of violating international law and stressed that it is not justified to attack a country because of unconfirmed allegations. The Iranian ambassador added that Iran's response was based on the right to self-defense, and the decision on when and how to respond is still being discussed in Iran.

"We and future generations will not forget that the Iranians were in the midst of diplomatic negotiations with a country that is now at war with us," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, quoted by AFP.

He added that just two days before the talks began, the United States had carried out a military attack, which he said was a violation of the principles of dialogue and diplomacy.
