Russia is taking measures to help the Iranian people amid the escalation in the Middle East, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, TASS reported, BTA reported.

"We have long-standing, good and reliable relations with Iran. For our part, we are making efforts to help the Iranian people", the Russian president said.

Russia is on the right side of history amid US and Israeli attacks on Iran, Araghchi said for his part.

"Today, Russia is on the right side of history and international law", the Iranian Foreign Minister said.

Araghchi added that Iran thanked its Russian friends for "resolute condemnation of aggressive actions" against the Islamic Republic.

Putin also spoke by phone with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, with whom he discussed the situation in the Middle East, the Kremlin press service reported.

"A telephone conversation took place between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Mohammed al-Sudani. A thorough exchange of views was held on the situation in the Middle East in connection with the operation of Israeli forces against Iran, as well as the US missile and air strike on Iranian nuclear facilities," the Kremlin said in a statement.

During the conversation, Putin and Sudani agreed to assist in holding the first Russian-Arab summit in October, the Kremlin press service reported.
