The Kremlin responded to accusations that it did not support Iran enough, saying it had already taken a clear position and condemned the US and Israeli strikes against it, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities as unjustified. Putin promised yesterday that Russia would try to help the Iranian people, but did not give details on how this would happen.

"Russia actually supported Iran with its clear position," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He added that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed gratitude for this support during his meeting with Putin yesterday.

Peskov specified that it was still too early to assess the damage caused to Iranian nuclear facilities after the attacks.

US President Donald Trump yesterday announced a complete ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which aims to end the "12-day war" that has led to millions of refugees and raised fears of further escalation in the region.

"If it is really possible to achieve a ceasefire, it deserves to be welcomed," Peskov said, adding that Qatar had helped mediate. "Russia has been calling for a ceasefire from the very beginning. Therefore, this ceasefire should be evaluated and we hope it will be lasting".
