Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said yesterday that Israel's operation in the Gaza Strip is nearing its end, DPA reported.
"We are nearing the end of the operation in Gaza," Katz said in a statement made a week after the end of the brief military confrontation between Israel and Iran.
Katz stressed that Israel's goals in Gaza are victory over the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" and the release of hostages taken by "Hamas" in the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
US President Donald Trump said over the weekend that he expects a ceasefire in Gaza soon.
