Russia hands over the Tamal frigate to India VIDEO

The ceremony took place in Kaliningrad

Russia has handed over the new frigate “Tamal“ to India, the press service of the company “Rosoboronexport“ reported.

The official ceremony of handing over the ship took place in Kaliningrad. “The successful completion of the construction, testing and handover of the frigate “Tamal“ to India is a signal of the readiness of “Rosoboronexport“ "to effectively execute any contracts on naval topics, taking into account modern trends in the world market," said the company's CEO Alexander Mikheev.

He stressed that the eighth Project 11356 frigate has become a model for technological cooperation. The ship is equipped with more than twenty naval systems manufactured in India, including the “BrahMos“ missile system, as well as a radar for detecting and designating targets.

The “Tamal“ ship has successfully passed acceptance tests. Andrey Puchkov, CEO of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), noted that USC specialists will assist in the construction of two Project 11356 ships at Indian shipyards. The Indian Navy already operates seven frigates of this type.

In January, India simultaneously launched the submarine “Vaghshir“, the destroyer “Nilgiri“ and the frigate “Surat“, which were built in the country.
