Drilling ship capsizes in Gulf of Suez: Four dead, six missing

The incident with the "Adam Marine 12" does not threaten navigation in the Suez Canal, Egyptian authorities have confirmed

A drilling ship capsized on Tuesday evening in the Gulf of Suez, about 300 kilometers from the Suez Canal, the online publication Egypt Independent reports, citing the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, BTA reports.

At least four people have died so far, six are missing, and 21 crew members have been rescued.

The vessel - „Adam Marine 12“ - was located in the Gabal az Zeit area, which is among the important oil production areas in the Red Sea. During while being towed by three ships to a new drilling site in a concession area, the platform capsized.

Egyptian authorities assured that the incident will not affect traffic in the Suez Canal - one of the most important international trade and transport corridors.
