Accident leaves part of Czech Republic without power

According to Czech media, public transport was disrupted

The metro in the Czech capital Prague was temporarily stopped today, and firefighters were rescuing citizens trapped in elevators, after a power outage caused by a power line collapse affected much of the country, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

The Czech network operator reported on the “Ex“ platform that the accident lasted several hours and affected eight of the 44 distribution substations in the country.

“Most of Prague was affected, mainly on the right bank of the Vltava River,“ a company spokesman said.

The three metro lines were stopped for about half an hour, the company that operates the Prague metro reported.

According to Czech media, public transport was disrupted, and Production has been halted in several other regions. Some shops have closed and hospitals have switched to emergency power from generators.
