Strategic reserve! EU to create emergency stocks of critical minerals

The European Union intends to create stocks of critical minerals and cable repair kits in case of an emergency, the Financial Times reported, citing a draft document from the European Commission, Focus writes.

"Brussels has announced that it will create emergency stocks of important minerals and cable repair kits amid growing concerns about the EU's vulnerability to attacks“, the material states.

It is noted that it is also planned to accelerate work on creating stocks of permanent magnets at the EU level. In addition, the bloc's member states will have to coordinate the creation of stocks of food, medicine and even nuclear fuel.

“The EU faces an increasingly complex and deteriorating risk landscape, characterized by rising geopolitical tensions, including conflicts, the growing impact of climate change, environmental degradation, hybrid and cyber threats“, the newspaper quoted an excerpt from the draft document, which will be published next week.
