Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Order of the “Gold Star“ to the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy and former commander of the 155th Guards Brigade, Guards Major General Mikhail Gudkov, who died in the Kursk region.
Putin also posthumously awarded two employees of the Belgorod emergency service.
“For courage and heroism shown during a special military operation, I am awarding the Hero of the Russian Federation Major General Mikhail Evgenievich Gudkov with a second special distinction - the “Gold Star“ medal (posthumously)“, the decree of the head of state says.
Gudkov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia in October 2023.
Meanwhile, the Russian armed forces shot down over a hundred Ukrainian drones over the country overnight, the Defense Ministry reported.
30 of them were destroyed over the Bryansk region, 29 over the Kursk region, 18 over the Oryol region, 17 over the Belgorod region, 13 over the Tula region; four drones over Kaluga region, three over Leningrad region, two over Smolensk and Novgorod regions, one over Tver region and one in the waters of the Sea of Azov.
