Against the backdrop of heavy losses at the front, Russia has almost completely classified demographic statistics. This was revealed by the Russian opposition project "Agency.Novosti".
The last time this was done was several times during the years of Stalin's rule. After the Holodomor in Ukraine, the Kremlin classified the number of people who died of hunger, but also of those executed by the NKVD. The second time this was done was during the Great Purge in the USSR and the third time during World War II.
On July 2, Rosstat published a regular compilation of statistical information, which did not include one of the most important sections - "Demography".
The Russian authorities have hidden all information about the population, with the exception of two unimportant indicators, a leading Russian demographer told journalists, who preferred to remain anonymous.
In particular, Russia has already classified such basic statistical data as:
the number of permanent population,
the number of births,
the number of deaths,
the number of marriages and divorces,
the number of immigrants
etc.
It is noted that data on births, deaths, marriages and divorces were removed from public access some time ago.
Now only two indicators are available in the statistical compilation - the total fertility rate by region and the total rate of the third and subsequent child.
The demographer notes that in the near future the regular bulletin "Natural population movement" should be published, but it will probably also be classified.
