Germany summoned the Chinese ambassador to the Foreign Ministry, reports "Reuters".
The reason is that the Chinese military pointed a laser at a German plane participating in a European Union operation called ASPIDES, which aims to protect maritime security.
"Putting German personnel at risk and disrupting the operation is completely unacceptable," the German Foreign Ministry stressed on the social network X.
The incident comes amid growing concerns in the EU about Chinese influence on critical technologies and security infrastructure in Europe.
The EU mission - ASPIDES, contributes to protecting freedom of navigation and maritime security, especially for merchant ships in the Red Sea, Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf, within the framework of the EU's common security and defence policy.
