The Government of the Republic of North Macedonia has declared a state of crisis due to the increased frequency of fires in the country, announced government spokeswoman Maria Miteva after the end of the government meeting today, BTA reported.
„This means that an integrated approach and coordinated actions of all competent institutions, the army, police, fire department, Crisis Management Center and the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, as well as local authorities, are being activated. All human, technical, and logistical resources will be mobilized to deal with the fires and protect the population“, announced Miteva.
The crisis situation will last 30 days.
According to the latest information from the Crisis Management Center at noon, 9 fires are burning in the country, including the one in the municipality of Chucher-Sandevo, where mixed forest and low vegetation have been burning for the third day and because of which the Blace border crossing between North Macedonia and Kosovo was closed twice, as well as in the municipalities of Prilep, Veles, Chashka, Probištip, Shuto Orizari, Dojran, as well as in two places in the municipality of Makedonski Brod.
