The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said today that the UNESCO Secretariat has a biased position regarding the situation in Ukraine and that it refuses to "notice lawlessness" in this country, RIA Novosti reported, quoted by Focus.
"It is obvious that the UNESCO Secretariat takes a biased position regarding the situation in Ukraine. Representatives of the bureaucracy of this organization refuse to notice the lawlessness that has been happening (in Ukraine) for many years. Why? Because this UNESCO structure deals with other things“, she emphasizes.
The Russian diplomat added that the session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which is being held in Paris, will discuss the condition and preservation of three Ukrainian sites included in the list of endangered sites in 2023, including the “St. Sophia“ Cathedral and the associated monastery buildings in Kiev, the Pechersk Lavra, the ensemble of the historical center of Lviv and the historical center of Odessa, the Russian agency reports.
