Cyprus is bracing for extreme heat today, with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, the "Cyprus Mail" newspaper reported, BTA reported.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Service of Cyprus, temperatures in the interior of the Mediterranean island are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius today, while in coastal areas they are expected to be in the range between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius.
A yellow code has been declared for dangerously high temperatures between 12:00 and 17:00, with meteorologists recommending people to drink plenty of water, stay in the shade and avoid outdoor activities during the midday hours, when the sun is strongest.
