US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today on the sidelines of the ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting in Malaysia, the US State Department announced, quoted by Agence France-Presse and BTA.

The meeting comes amid disputes between Washington and Beijing over issues related to the trade in fentanyl, to Taiwan and advanced technologies, the agency notes.

The meeting between the two is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time (9:00 Bulgarian time).

Yesterday, Rubio said that in the event of contact with Wang Yi, among other issues he would touch upon the topic of the war in Ukraine, TASS recalls.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has accepted an invitation to visit US President Donald Trump during his planned visit to Scotland later this month, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The date of the meeting and the details of it are still being specified, a person familiar with Starmer's plans told the agency.

Scots Police said yesterday that they were preparing for a possible visit by Trump later this month. This will be the US president's first visit to Britain since returning to the White House.

In recent months, Trump and Starmer have developed a warm relationship, and last month they signed a trade agreement on the sidelines of the G7 summit, which officially reduced some US tariffs on British goods, Reuters notes.

The deal was agreed after Starmer visited the White House in February for a friendly meeting, during which he extended an invitation to Trump on behalf of King Charles III for a state visit, which the US president accepted.

Earlier this week, British media reported that Trump would visit his golf clubs in Scotland later in July. “Sky News“ specified that the president would visit his golf courses in Turnberry and Aberdeenshire.
