Russian President Vladimir Putin is aware that the US may impose new anti-Russian sanctions and is ready for them, reports the newspaper The New York Times(NYT), citing sources close to the Kremlin.
According to their information, the Russian leader is ready for US President Donald Trump to act more sharply on the issue of Ukraine. At the same time, the newspaper's interlocutors noted that Putin is currently satisfied with his contacts with Trump. One of the sources said the Russian leader expects to be able to negotiate an easing of sanctions in the future.
On July 11, Bloomberg TV commentator Greg Sullivan suggested that Trump could announce new sanctions against Russia and announce new military supplies to Ukraine on Monday.
On July 10, Trump said he planned to make a major announcement about Russia on Monday. The US leader did not provide details, but again noted that he was disappointed with the progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
