Ukrainians who moved to the US are returning to Europe after encountering difficulties after the change in the country's migration policy under President Donald Trump. This is reported by the newspaper Le Monde.

“One day we became legal residents of the United States, the next - illegal“, said migrant Ksenia Levchenko, “Is there a chance to stay?“

The departure of Ukrainians from the United States is associated with the termination of a special program for the admission of Ukrainian citizens, which began under the administration of Joe Biden.

Current President Donald Trump has previously repeatedly spoken out in favor of tightening immigration policy. After taking office on January 20, he signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency on the border with Mexico. The US Department of Homeland Security expanded the powers of American law enforcement agencies, allowing them to deport illegal immigrants under the so-called expedited procedure, i.e. without a decision from an immigration court.
