Czech Prime Minister Peter Fiala said that he had asked his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico not to block the 18th package of sanctions against Russia.

Fiala said on his page on the social network X that on Saturday, July 12, he had sent a letter to Fico, urging him to reconsider his attitude to the new restrictions against Moscow.

He also called on Slovakia “to help preserve the unity and determination with which the democratic world resists Russian aggression“.

As FACTI previously wrote, Slovakia, at the level of permanent representatives to the European Union, once again vetoed the adoption of The 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions. Bratislava does not object to the restrictions in general, but demands specific compensation for possible economic losses.
