Oil fields in the semi-autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan were attacked by drones for a third day in a row, the "Reuters" agency reported, BTA reports.

The latest attack was directed at fields in the Zakho region, managed by the Norwegian energy company DNO. According to a statement by the regional counter-terrorism service, published on “Facebook“, the drones were loaded with explosives. No one was injured in the attack, but material damage was caused.

The DNO company is the operator of the Tauke and Peshkabir oil fields, which are located in the Zakho region.

Just a day earlier, another drone attack led to the suspension of production at the Sarsang field. The attack was carried out hours before the American operator of this field signed an agreement with the Iraqi government to develop a new oil project.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. However, security sources in Iraqi Kurdistan indicate that, according to preliminary data, the drones were launched from territories controlled by pro-Iranian armed groups.

On Monday (the first day of the series of attacks), two drones hit the Hurmala oil field near the city of Erbil. The incident damaged water pipes on the site.

The ongoing attacks raise serious concerns about the security of strategic energy infrastructure in the region and highlight the growing geopolitical tensions in northern Iraq.
