Latvia has delivered a new supply of military aid to Ukraine, DPA reported. The Baltic country, a member of the EU and NATO, delivered over 15 "Patria" armored vehicles to the Ukrainian armed forces during the visit of Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinja to Kiev, the Latvian Defense Ministry reported, BTA reports.
"Latvia's support for Ukraine is not just in words, but through concrete actions", Silinja said during her visit.
According to the ministry, Latvia plans to send a total of 42 armored vehicles by the end of the year. They are manufactured domestically by the Finnish company "Patria".
In addition to the armored personnel carriers, Riga is preparing a new military aid package, including drones and other equipment worth 70 million euros. Latvia has also pledged to train about 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers as part of efforts to strengthen Kiev's defense capabilities.
Ukraine continues to defend itself from a full-scale Russian invasion that began more than three years ago. Latvia, which borders both Russia and its ally Belarus, has been among Ukraine's most active and consistent supporters in the region.
