Mobile internet in Russia to be shut down at authorities' discretion

The Kremlin said today that the decision to shut down mobile internet in Russia was justified to protect people from threats from Ukraine, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this in response to a question about internet outages, after the monitoring platform Sboi.rf registered internet problems in dozens of Russian regions this week.

Russian authorities turn off mobile internet when necessary to counter Ukrainian drone attacks, Reuters reports.
