In a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the deliveries of missiles for SAMP/T anti-aircraft systems, financing for interceptor drones and training of Mirage fighter pilots, Ukrinform reported, referring to a post by the Ukrainian president on Telegram, BTA reported.
“We discussed the situation on the front and the priority defense needs of Ukraine. I am grateful to Emmanuel for his truly strategic vision and his willingness to help with exactly what our soldiers need. We also discussed in detail the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense, including the supply of missiles for the SAMP/T systems and the financing of our interceptor drones. We will prepare joint decisions with France and partners at the level of defense ministers and foreign ministers on new steps to protect the lives of our people from Russian strikes,” Zelensky wrote.
He also mentioned the agreement on training pilots for the Mirage aircraft. According to Zelensky, France is ready to accept more pilots for training on additional aircraft.
The two presidents also discussed the work in the form of the “coalition of the willing” and the implementation of the agreements of their recent meeting.
„I also thanked France for its tangible contribution to the content and work on the adoption of the eighteenth package of EU sanctions. "We are working together with our American partners to make Russia feel real global pressure. Every day that the end of the war is postponed should have really painful consequences for Russia," Zelensky added.
