The Israeli army is expanding its operations in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, DPA reported, citing a statement from a military spokesman, BTA reported.
In a post published today in Arabic on the "Ex" platform, the Israeli spokesman called on local residents to leave the area of the city.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue to "operate intensively to eliminate terrorists and destroy the terrorist infrastructure in the region and are expanding their operations to new areas," the army statement said. "For your safety, immediately evacuate south to Al-Mawasi", the statement said.
The Al-Mawasi area in the southwestern part of the disputed Palestinian enclave was designated by Israel as a "humanitarian zone" during the Gaza war. However, the Israeli military has repeatedly carried out attacks there in the past. The army said its targets included sites of the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas".
