Iran has expressed its readiness to resume technical-level discussions on its nuclear program with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the agency's head Rafael Grossi said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

The IAEA is pushing for the resumption of inspections after last month's US and Israeli strikes aimed at damaging Iran's nuclear infrastructure and limiting its ability to create nuclear weapons.

During a visit to Singapore, Grossi stressed that full transparency from Tehran is needed regarding its nuclear facilities and activities. He said the agency had suggested to Iran that they start with technical talks as a basis for possible higher-level consultations.

“What we plan to do is start with technical details and then move on to higher-level consultations. There is no question of inspections yet,“ he explained.

On Wednesday, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that Tehran had agreed to a visit by an IAEA technical team in the coming weeks, but without access to nuclear sites. According to the Iranian side, visits to the bombed sites would pose a security and safety risk.

Iran denies developing nuclear weapons, but Grossi said the agency still does not have access to information on the status and location of approximately 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium.

“That is why it is so important that we engage as soon as possible and resume our inspections,“ Grossi stressed.
