The German government announced today that it is ready to take additional measures to put pressure on Israel over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Reuters, BTA reports.

“German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made it clear in a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the federal government was ready to increase pressure if no progress was made,“ a German cabinet spokesman said.

He added that Berlin was prepared to take further steps, which would be discussed at a security meeting scheduled for this afternoon.

The spokesman did not give specifics on what measures would be implemented, but stressed that Germany was seriously committed to the need to improve humanitarian conditions in the Palestinian territories.
