Serbia's new ambassador to Washington, Dragan Sutanovac, has officially invited US President Donald Trump to visit Belgrade. The invitation was extended during the ceremony for presenting his credentials, Sutanovac announced in a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter), BTA reports.

Sutanovac stressed that during the meeting the two discussed Serbian-American relations in a “friendly and constructive atmosphere“, and the main message of the conversation was:
“Let's make the Serbian-American strategic partnership great again.“

The Serbian diplomat reminded Trump that no American president has visited Serbia since 1980, and expressed hope that he could be the first to change that.

Dragan Sutanovac is a former Minister of Defense of Serbia (2007-2012) and a long-time member of the pro-Western Democratic Party. After 2022 he actively pushes Belgrade to join sanctions against Russia.

Before Sutanovac, the Serbian ambassador to Washington was Marko Đurić, the current Serbian foreign minister.
