For three years now, I have been writing about the need to create army corps and monitoring how their creation affects the situation on the front. The main reason for our losses is not due to the enemy's skills, but to systemic problems in the organization and management of troops. This was commented on in his column by military journalist and editor-in-chief of Censor.NET Yuri Butusov, Focus writes.

''That is why it is important to consider the changes that have occurred in the area of the 3rd Army Corps, commanded by Colonel Andrei Biletsky, since the corps is one of the first to deploy and take responsibility from June 4 for one of the hottest zones, which is in an extremely critical situation,'' emphasizes the military journalist.

''From January 1 to June 4, 2025, in the area of our two infantry brigades, where, according to the Deepstate map, the enemy managed to achieve the greatest offensive, Russian troops captured 198 square kilometers.

Since June 4, the entire front line of the corps, including these two brigades, has been transferred under the command of Biletsky. For a month and a half in June-July, the enemy managed to capture 16 square kilometers, but as a result of counterattacks, the 3rd Corps liberated 8 square kilometers. At the moment, the situation remains difficult, several of our positions are surrounded, but all attempts by the three Russian armies to break through the front are being repulsed.

Now the most important thing is our losses. I have detailed information, the statistics on irretrievable losses are as follows: the average monthly losses have decreased by approximately half compared to the "pre-corps" period. This is compared to the average monthly losses from January 1 to June 4, Butusov points out.

And this despite the fact that the intensity of hostilities increased in June

He notes the great role of the Third Assault Brigade, which is the core of the corps and, together with the attached battalions, holds a record 60 km front line - this is 5% of the entire front of active combat operations and 50% of the front of the entire corps.

''As the corps commander, Biletsky changed the tactics of defensive actions: the oncoming battles and continuous counterattacks were stopped. The chaos on the front line has disappeared, and the interaction of intelligence and firepower is systematically improving. Biletsky has broad powers to increase the command staff – The exaggerations and inaccurate information in the reports have disappeared among commanders at all levels, and interaction has improved. Each brigade of the corps began to receive “very small, but planned replenishment of stocks of people and ammunition, which previously could not be available for months“.

According to the military analyst, the 3rd Corps is an example of the Ukrainian army and what a good commander can achieve, supported by the necessary means and people.

''Andriy Biletsky proved what a competent commander of a combat-ready brigade is capable of if he receives the authority to independently organize work and at least minimal trust and support from the leadership. Thanks to this, he was able to significantly improve the results of military operations on a large strip of the front line within two months,” Butusov emphasizes.
