Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening video address that peace is possible only if we act firmly and decisively, adding that "sanctions are a key element of this", Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.

Zelensky's words were on the occasion of US President Donald Trump's new deadline for Russia to end the war.

"Today, President Trump made an extremely important statement. And it is true - Russia is doing everything to disrupt peace efforts and prolong this war. Every night there are strikes, constant Russian attempts to harm Ukraine," Zelensky said.

"Russia complies with the sanctions, recognizes these losses. Peace is possible through force. Ukraine, as always, is ready to work as productively as possible with America, to work with President Trump to end this war with dignity and with lasting peace," the Ukrainian leader emphasized.

He also thanked the entire foreign policy team of Ukraine, which is working to build full-fledged relations with the United States.

Zelensky also praised the "explicit determination" on the part of Trump in a post on the social network "Ex".

"A clear position and explicit determination from US President Donald Trump. Just in time, when much can be changed through force for real peace," Zelensky wrote. "Thank you President Trump for focusing on saving human lives and stopping this terrible war," the Ukrainian leader added.
