A child of about three years old was found dead on a beach in the Greek capital Athens on Saturday, but the authorities are puzzled by the fact that his identity remains unknown because no one looked for him, reports the Greek state television Sky, BTA reported.

The incident was reported late on Saturday evening by a 33-year-old Egyptian citizen, who called the emergency number 112 and reported that the sea had thrown up the body of a child on a beach in Palio Faliro. According to the information, it is a girl of an apparent age of about 3 years old.

The autopsy found no traces of criminal activity, and the cause of the child's death was drowning. The child has injuries, but they occurred after death because the body had spent many hours at sea and had been bumping into rocks in the waves.

No one has reported the child missing. Authorities are continuing to check the lists of missing children, but so far without result.
