Four tourists, including a child, died on Monday evening after a boat with 14 people on board capsized in the Musura Bay in Romania - the place where the Danube River flows into the Black Sea, local media reported, quoted by BTA.

The vessel was carrying more passengers than the maximum permitted capacity of 12 people, investigators reported. They added that the tragedy occurred in rough waters, with waves reaching two meters and navigation prohibited due to adverse weather conditions.

The boat's driver, who is among the survivors, was tested for alcohol consumption and the result was negative. The boat's passengers were tourists who had boarded for a leisure excursion and were not a group.

Several boats from the Tulcea Fire Department, the Crișani Fire Brigade, and the Tulcea County Ambulance Service immediately arrived on the scene. The rescue teams were also supported by local residents who intervened with several private boats.
