US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who is acting head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has announced his intention to seek common ground with Russia on space cooperation. This will take place at a meeting with the head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Earlier, TASS reported that Bakanov arrived in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, with a meeting with Duffy on his agenda. This will be the first high-level meeting between the heads of NASA and Roscosmos since 2018.

“We have serious disagreements with Russia on the issue of Ukraine,“ Duffy told reporters in Washington. However, he stressed that the United States continues to cooperate with Russia on the International Space Station (ISS).

“We will continue to build alliances, partnerships and friendships as humanity advances in space exploration,“ added the interim head of NASA.
