The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, commented to the official TASS agency on Russia's readiness for the new sanctions that US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose on it in ten days, News.bg reports.

“We have been living under a huge number of sanctions for quite a long time, our economy is functioning“, Peskov emphasized. “Of course, we have already built up some immunity in this regard.“

Earlier, Trump confirmed that he had set a ten-day deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

The American president said that he had not received a response from Moscow after setting the ultimatum, describing it as “shameful“, given the nature of the conflict, which he called “a disgusting war“.

A White House official explained that in the absence of an agreement, the United States plans to impose 100% tariffs on Russian goods, as well as secondary sanctions against countries that continue to buy oil from Russia.

Peskov's statement is almost identical to his earlier comment regarding the 18th package of sanctions by the European Union against Moscow.
