Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in the northern Vietnamese province of Dien Bien, "Reuters" reported. The disaster killed at least 14 people and submerged many homes in low-lying areas. Serious landslides were also reported in the mountainous parts of the province, News.bg reports.

Two children from the village of Hang Pu Si were buried by mudslides, and rescue teams have not yet been able to find their bodies. The highest number of victims were registered in the mountain village of Sa Dung - one dead and six missing.

The ongoing heavy rains are further complicating search operations. Local authorities reported that due to the floods, traffic and power supply in some parts of the province were disrupted.
