US President Donald Trump said he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed in regions near Russia, in response to threats from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Reuters and Agence France-Presse reported, BTA writes.

"I have ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements turn out to be something more than that", the American president said in a post on the social network "Truth Social". "Words are very important and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those cases," Trump said.

Medvedev wrote in "Ex" that any new ultimatum issued by Trump to end the war in Ukraine "is a threat and a step towards war" with the United States, AFP recalls.

Medvedev made the statement after Trump said on Tuesday that Russia has "10 days from today" to reach a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine or face tariffs on it and those who buy its oil, Reuters recalls. Moscow has shown no signs of meeting the deadline.
