The construction of an electronic barrier in the Lublin Voivodeship of Poland on the water section of the border with Belarus has been completed, the Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kerwiński announced on Saturday.

"After a year and a half of intensive work, we have installed an electronic barrier along the Bug River worth 280 million zlotys ($75 million)", the press service of the ministry quoted the head of the Polish Interior Ministry as saying, PAP specified.

Kerwiński added that in total, over 160 million zlotys have already been spent on the electronic barrier and strengthening the physical barrier on the border with Belarus. dollars and "investments will continue".

According to the minister, as a result "the effectiveness of detecting attempts to illegally cross the border has increased from 30% to almost 98%".

In the summer of 2023, the installation of an electronic barrier along the land section of the Polish-Belarusian border was completed. It includes electronic control systems, including night vision cameras, thermal imaging cameras, tens of kilometers of detection cables.

The construction of an electronic barrier along the water sections of the border began at the end of February 2024.

Earlier, sections of the electronic barrier were completed along the border rivers Svisloch and Istochanka in Podlaskie Voivodeship, bordering the Grodno and Brest regions of Belarus.
