US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow today, TASS reported, BTA reported.
Witkoff was met at "Vnukovo" airport by Russian President Vladimir Putin's special representative for economic cooperation with other countries, Kirill Dmitriev.
Trump's envoy arrived in Russia two days before the expiration of the ultimatum set by the US president for it to stop its war against Ukraine, notes Agence France-Presse.
TASS indicates that this is Witkoff's fifth visit to Russia since the beginning of the year.
Trump's envoy last visited Moscow for talks on April 25, and before that he visited St. Petersburg on April 11. Both times he met with Putin.
Yesterday, Trump said he would decide whether to impose new sanctions on Russia after Witkoff's meetings in Moscow.
Earlier this month, the US president ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed closer to Russia as a warning to it.
