Axios: Ukraine, US, EU meet urgently in UK. Zelensky holds referendum on territorial concessions

Kiev and NATO allies are concerned that Trump may agree to Putin's proposal to end the conflict without taking into account their positions

Representatives of the US, Ukraine and some European countries will meet in the UK this weekend to agree on a position before the summit between US and Russian leaders Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

This was reported by the Axios portal, citing its sources.

According to him, “Ukraine and some NATO allies have expressed concern that Trump may agree to Putin's proposal to end the conflict without taking into account their positions“. Axios explains that the idea of holding a meeting where the parties would “try to develop a common position“ arose during a conversation between Ukrainian, American and European representatives on Friday.

The details of the meeting and the composition of the participants are still being agreed upon, the portal emphasizes. At the same time, the Axios source believes that possible territorial concessions from Ukraine would require Volodymyr Zelensky to hold a referendum in the country.

Earlier, Trump said that he expected to meet with his Russian counterpart in Alaska on August 15. The American president published the corresponding post on Truth Social. The Russian leader's aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed the time and place of the summit. This will be the first face-to-face meeting between the Russian and American leaders since Trump returned to the White House in January 2025.
