Rescuers have found a human body and fragments of an aircraft in the Sorbulak reservoir, where a Eurocopter EC145 military helicopter with three crew members probably crashed, the press service of the Defense Ministry reported.

“During underwater work, servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan found partial fragments of an aircraft and a body at a depth of about 14 meters. An identification procedure is currently underway“, the statement said. As the Ministry of Defense notes, the search is complicated by low visibility under water and silt deposits, which significantly slows down the work of divers and engineering units.

Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan reported that on July 25, during a scheduled flight in the Almaty region, an EC145 helicopter of the air defense forces disappeared from radar screens. There were three crew members on board. Then, rescuers found fragments of the aircraft and an oil slick on the surface of the Sorbulak reservoir, after which they began an underwater search.
