Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine "counts on America" ahead of today's summit. "Indeed, the stakes are high", the Ukrainian president commented in connection with Trump's earlier post on social media, The Telegraph reports, quoted by Focus.

He continues: "The key is that this meeting should open a real path to a just peace and a substantive discussion between the leaders in a trilateral format – Ukraine, the United States and the Russian side.

"It is time to end the war and Russia must take the necessary steps.

"We are counting on America".

"As always, we are ready to work as productively as possible".

Before leaving for Alaska, Donald Trump made a short comment on the social network Truth Social: "HIGH STAKES!!!"
