Earlier, The Telegraph newspaper revealed that Trump is heading to Anchorage, armed with a package of financial incentives designed to ease the path to a ceasefire.

Trump added that he will not do business with Putin until a peace deal is reached.

"I noticed that he brings a lot of business people from Russia, and that's good", Trump said. "I like it because they want to do business, but they won't do business until we settle the war".

The US president reiterated his earlier comments, saying Putin would face "very serious" consequences if an agreement to end the fighting in Ukraine was not reached.
